Slottsfjellet

Slottsfjellet is a hill located in the center of Tønsberg. It is 63 meters above sea level at its highest point, and on top of it, there are the ruins of a church and the medieval fortress Tunsberghus.

Here we also find Tønsberg's landmark, the Slottsfjell Tower, erected in 1888. Just below the tower and the ruins, there is Vestfoldtunet with historic buildings, as well as the Tallak area, which is a popular place to organize concerts. The location can accommodate several thousand spectators and is the venue for the Medieval Festival every year. Cultural events have been held at Slottsfjellet for over 100 years, and the famous Slottsfjell Festival was held there until 2018.
